    Customer Reviews:
    get a handle!
love the blade. the handle, not so much. got the 2 knife set about a year ago (this one w/ the paring knife.) the blades are great, super sharp and cut well. however the handles on both knives cracked in several places after only a few months of TLC care. (hand washing only, handled carefully). I love henkel knives and have used them for years, I will just get them with a different kind of handle in the future. also with this particular model it took me a few weeks to get used to the handle-heavy balance.

    Great Knife
I’ve been buying Henckel knives for my children for the past couple of years. Gifts for Christmas mainly, they keep asking for more. The latest being a twin cuisine 7-inch santoku hollow edge. My son raved about this knife, saying it was the best all around kitchen knife ever made. They do alot of entertaining and appreciate good sharp knives in the kitchen. So this one is a real winner and probably won’t be the last one I buy…..

    Blade cracked!
I received this knife for Christmas last year and I absolutely loved it. However, after a year of normal use (and gentle cleaning, handling, etc…it was expensive so naturally I took good care of it) it began to show rust spots on the blade. Shortly after I noticed a crack running half way up the blade. I cannot use it anymore, due to the crack. It seems like for the price the blade should be more durable. I am very dissappointed, as I always heard great things about this brand.

    Professional Quality Knife!
I ordered this knife for my husband for Christmas. He LOVES it! It is heavy, but perfectly balanced. It slices through just about anything like “butta”. It is his first really, good quality knife. Now he knows why I’ve always been so picky about my other Henckel knives! We love the sleek style and modern look. A home run!!

    Great Knife
Before Buying a knife always try to go to a store and test them out. This Knife is HEAVY, (50-50) Distribution. WHICH IS WHAT I LIKED ABOUT IT. Everybody has the personal preference and what works for them. I find the balance ideal for me.

The knife handels well. Is exremely sharp and feels great in your hand. It is hard to buy Knives online without testing them first. (Esecially expensive one) I went to the store tried them out then bought them from Amazon because of price.

    Customer Reviews:
Quite nice. Great for cutting in the pan.
I normally prefer metal spatulas with a long, thin, flexible lifting surface for more easily getting under the egg, hamburger or pancake. This spatula has none of those attributes. Nevertheless, I have found it quite useful. It has a short, thick head and is very stiff. Although it is thick, it has a sharpened edge (perhaps this is why it is called a “slice”?). This rigidity makes it quite useful if something has stuck to the pan and needs to be removed with force which might bend a flexible spatula excessively. Moreover, the sharpness of the edge combined with the stiffness also makes this very useful for cutting casseroles, tamales pies, lasagna or the like right in the pyrex dish, metal pan or Le Creuset french oven. Rather than dulling the edge of my nice knives on the glass, metal or enamel surface or in turn damaging those surfaces (particularly the enamel of the Le Creuset), I simply push this spatula down gently and cut out squares of the item. I still use thin, metal, slightly flexible spatulas for most frying pan “work”, but I find myself reaching for this one every weekend for the other kitchen tasks mentioned above.

    Customer Reviews:
A fine DVD player, if a little big
Hey, I got this DVD player about a month ago on the recommendation of AMB Media Services and it was well worth the cost. This player was recommended to us after our latest crappy cheapo DVD player started acting up. I just had to clear off the space on my teeny tiny TV cabinet so that this long, flat machine can hog all of the cabinet top space, but so far, I think it’s TOTALLY worth it to get a DVD player that works all the time, everytime, and I’ll never go cheapo again!

Good for playing store bought DVDs
I’m a technological semi-geek. I can get most things to work. But so far, this machine is not as easy to use as I thought it would be. It plays store bought DVDs, mp3s and audio CDs well. The upconverting creates a modestly better picture with its HDMI out than my ancient former DVD player (10 years old) did when I played it through its S-Video out. The Viera link works with my Panasonic TV, which as far as I can tell only means the TV turns on when the DVD player goes on; whether you can consider that a plus is debatable, but you can easily turn the link off.

What I have yet to get to work are mpeg-4 files from either DVD discs or CD discs. The machine says it can’t read the discs. I’ll keep tweaking. But it looks like that on paper the previous generation DVD player from Panasonic, the S53K, actually had a little more versatility with regard to disc formats.

    Poor video quality
I own a DMR-ES25 Panasonic recorder and wanted a player with DVD-RAM capabilities. However when I hooked this up to my 1080p LCD TV through HDMI, I noticed that the resulting picture was noisy and much worse than the 1080i upconversion coming from my old Panasonic’s HDMI output. There was practically no noticeable difference between the 480p and 1080p outputs when watching DVDs. It was as if there was no upconversion. I even experienced occasional video and audio loss. BTW I was using the same HDMI cable to compare my DVD recorder and this unit, so I don’t think that was the issue here. The menu screen had superfluous white dots in random places.

Also the tray is flimsy and it’s hard to get DVDs out. I ended up returning it. I either got a bad unit or the quality of the upconversion circuitry is just not up to par compared to older generation Panasonics.

Panasonic DVD-S54K 1080p Upconverting DVD Player
great picture quality, so far watched 2 movies and they looked incredible. much clearer then a reg DVD player@ 480i. the only fault that I see is the tray is a little flimsy. I would recommend this DVD player.

    An awesome picture!
I got this to team up with the Panasonic 42″ Plasma Viera tv & it really makes my dvd’s alot sharper & clearer than before on a regular dvd player. Why buy a Blu-ray player & spend all the extra money on the Blu-ray dvd’s when you don’t have to?
