    Customer Reviews:
Best quality case I ever bought.
I was initially hesitant in buying this $200+ case but it came highly recommended from a tech at Best Buy. I eventually bought it (Black) last month and have to say that I’m very happy it did. This box is great. It has a lot of space for good air circulation. The brushed aluminum makes this box look great. The three fans are placed in good locations and are very quiet. Even with another three (CPU, PSU and video card) fans–the noise is low.

You can tell the builders put some thought into the box. It’s lighter than the traditional metal cases and provides very good cooling for the motherboard, hard drives and video card. I installed an Intel D975XBX/Core 2 Duo 6600, 2 WD Raptor HDs, ATI X1900XTX, LiteOn DVD/RW, Corsair 620W PSU, Lian Li TR-3 and card reader. You have a lot of space to work with and don’t have to worry about sharp edges. I know the previous reviewer was concerned with the size, but you can’t reduce the size and still expect to have good air circulation with all those wires and components stuffed in a small area and generating a lot of heat.

The negative side? Yes–this case is a little on the the expensive side. You can go cheap if you don’t care about quality. This box does support the next generation motherboards–EATX (Extended ATX)configurations. Another slight issue was with the location of the external/front USB-IEEE 1394a-Audio jacks. They are located in the lower front portion of the case. It makes it pain to access if you put the case on the floor or under a desk. I would have put them at the top for easier access to the USB ports. Second, the color scheme they used to identify the wiring and connectors for the USB-Firewire-Audio jacks is poor. It can be difficult to connect the appropriate wires directly to the motherboard. The instructions that come with this case don’t really help you in that area. I could only get my USB connectors to work–not the audio/mic so I finally gave up. Luckily, my Intel board was well equipped and came with its own Front Panel USB2.0/IEEE 1394a/audio adapter with fast connections to the board. I used one of my slots and a Lian Li 5.25in to 3.5in Bay Converting Kit and I was able to install it near the top of the case for easy access. My Corsair 620W PSU fit nicely on the bottom and has plenty of cool air circulation.

Overall, this is a nice case (minus a few minor gripes). I would probably purchase a second one if I had to. I would have given it 5-stars if the USB2.0/IEEE 1394a/audio adapter were pain to use/connect to the motherboard and the instructions (for the cabling) so poorly written. I hope to upload a couple of pictures very soon.

A case that your kids will want to inherit!
Short and sweet, this case is really nicely done. Quite roomy for a mid-tower, which is, oddly enough, my only complaint. The case is bordering on huge. Sure, it’s nice to have SIX hard drive bays and FIVE accessory bays (CD-ROMs, etc.), but does anyone really need all that space in a mid-tower? If you’re going with a liquid cooling system and want space for a radiator, etc.., then great, but otherwise, I wish the case was a bit smaller. Hence my 4 star rating. This is the smallest case that features the 3 zone cooling system, so if you want that, then deal with it I guess.

Anyway, great build quality, but it is a bit over-priced in my opinion. The materials are ~good~, but for $200+, they should be great. It’s a shame when you have to overpay to get this kind of quality, but make no mistake, there’s not a better case for the money out there right now. I’m justifying the expense by keeping in mind that this case is not disposable, but instead, will be used again and again.

Oh yeah, I got the Antec 480 neopower PS, which is pretty big, and it fits like a dream. Fact is, I’ve not seen a PS that wouldn’t fit in this case.

Obviously the case is meant to mimic the Apple G5, which it does pretty well, but if you want to see an _excellent_ case, check out the G5’s. Quality of workmanship to materials used, the G5 is head and shoulders above this one. But, of course, the G5 case is not available by itself. :-(
Anyway, the case is quite good and looks great sitting next to my G5. One of the nice touches that Lian-Li put on the case is a G5-like DVD/CD-Rom bay at the top. Instead of the door sliding down, it flips open, but it’s a very nice touch regardless.

Pick this case up for your next project and you won’t be dissapointed.

Stats freaks, you know who you are, take a personal day, crunch on.
Politics in the U.S. for the past several decades has had the flavor of a pendulum; a slow oscillation driven mostly by indifferent people voicing their disgust with alternate messages. That model has been soundly retired. There are millions of voters, thousands of polling places, hundreds of districts and anyone with a basic knowledge of a spreadsheet program can keep a finger on trends and patterns to a greater extent than the highest paid consultants of just a dozen years ago. The Blacks speak this language; the controlled variable graph cluster.

They divide the country into the South, the Northeast, the Pacific Coast and the Midwest. They examine race, gender, religious affiliation and ethnicity. The patterns they show are stark. The campaigns will know well where to spend their money or they will fail.

The issues have not lost their importance. But the well-staffed candidate will no longer waste a dime of ad money in the wrong districts. Certain places, certain populations present opportunity. The rest of us will just have to see if we can surprise these hired guns and their finely tuned predictions.

Many will complain that the populist notions of participatory democracy have fallen by the wayside; that Tommy Jefferson is spinning in his grave. But it bears pointing out that “participatory” derives from an active verb. Voter turnouts for TV reality shows tower over those of even general elections. Are people truly disaffected with the political experience or just bored? If they are disappointed with the entertainment value of being asked to overthrow their government every November, they’ll get no sympathy from candidates and their consultants as they apply the strategies implied by “Divided America.”

    The poor authors
They had a great idea for a book on politics beyond the Reign of W, spending the past couple of years assiduously putting together a slew of statistics to back up their professional analysis of current American politics.

Then Karl Rove’s brilliant strategy imploded, and the electorate turned on the administration, pretty well across the board, though with some demographics more strongly than others. So … it’s tough to extrapolate the pre-implosion data (pre-2004) to 2008 and beyond.

The book went to press after the 2006 elections, and the authors do mention the results in the Foreward. However, I’m deducting two stars: one because it reads like a college statistics thesis in large part, and another because the data is (to some extent, debateable how much) not relevant for the next political cycle.
