As advertised 
No problems with this enclosure. I inserted my 3.5″ HDD, plugged it in and it works fine. Both on my Vista and my XP-Pro computers. The light is blue to show power is on and red when data is transferring. The HDD continues to spin until you turn the on-off switch off. I also own a Seagate external HDD and that drive turns off when it is not used for a while. That is a nice feature and it would have been nice if this enclosure had the same logic but it is no problem for me. Also, the slide that you mount the HDD on rattles a little inside the housing. But a piece of paper around the slide as you insert it will take care of that problem.
Overall: as advertised.
Troublesome 
I’m having a lot of trouble just getting this product to work properly. Another External HDD enclosure was so simple to use. I just plug it in, turn it on, and everything was just fine.
This one though, gave me nothing but trouble (in fact, 3 hours worth). Formatting the new HD inside was difficult. And it constantly blinks blue/red like this is a lightshow.
Heck, it doesn’t even function properly on my WinXP. It was a lot easier to use with the Vista, but that’s not saying much. If I have any more trouble with it, it’s going to be an automatic return.
